Lost

(The Boatwrights)

We recorded "Lost" in the fall of 2009 after contacting a local friend and songwriter, Gary Nichols. He sent us this song, and we immediately fell in love with its powerful lyrics! It goes back to the ugly truth that we ALL are hopelessly lost without the saving grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It's so easy to get wrapped up in things that are not God's best for our lives, and before you know it, you wake up and realize that you're far away from the Lord. Or as the song puts it you're "tangled in a web of habits (you) can't break."

And that is exactly why we need salvation... because no matter how hard we try to clean ourselves up to present to the Lord, we never can. It is only by the blood of Jesus covering our lives that we can have that salvation and live a life that is full of joy and peace that only He can supply.

Growing up in church, we have been accustomed to referring to someone who doesn't know the Lord as being "lost." We never really stopped to think about why we use that term until we recorded this song, but it's really simple... when you don't know the way, you're lost. In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth and the life." You don't have to wander aimlessly through life feeling like you have no purpose or direction. You can know The Way. Romans 10:13 tells us that "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL BE saved."

Everyone tries to call

Ringing the phone off the wall

No one answers, there's no tellin' where he's run off to

He could be all alone

Not even know he's gone

Chasing voices that tell him everything except the truth

He can't resist, but no matter where he thinks he is...

He's lost

Somewhere inside himself

Tangled in a web of habits he can't break

Lost,

He might see the Light

If he'd open up his eyes to his mistakes

Somewhere between the devil and the cross

He's lost

When will he hit the wall

How far will he have to fall

Will he wake up from this dream while he still has a prayer

His momma talks to God

Begs Him to help him stop

Cause he's not listening to anything we say to him down here

Lord, help him please

I'd hate to think he's out of reach

He's lost

Somewhere inside himself

Tangled in a web of habits he can't break

Lost,

He might see the Light

If he'd open up his eyes to his mistakes

Somewhere between the devil and the cross

He's lost

Something Out of Me

(The Boatwrights)

"Something Out of Me" was written by our cousin and pastor, Greg Woodall. It is centered around Isaiah 40:31 which states, "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." When we sing this song, we think about all of the obstacles that the devil has thrown in our path, whether they be consequences of our own decisions or trials that were out of our control. No matter the situation, our ministry is evidence of God's restoration. When we place our hope, our future, in the Lord, He allows us to rest under His wings while he restores us. Then we are able to soar like the eagle.

Life gets so hard when you're backed up to a wall

It seems like there's nowhere left to turn

But I have a God and He knows about it all

He would never let me fall

So I will wait on Him even though I'm tired

I'm gonna serve Him with all I've got

I'm gonna fly away on wings as eagles

As I wait on Him, He renews my strength

I will run and not grow weary

I will walk and not faint

Cause I know He's making something out of me

Have you ever been lost, tossed out on the sea

It seems like your ship is going down

But I have a Savior and He walks upon the water

He would never let me drown

So I will wait on Him even though I'm tired

I'm gonna serve Him until the day I die

And I will fly away on wings as eagles

As I wait on Him, He renews my strength

I will run and not grow weary

I will walk and not faint

Cause I know He's making something out of me

Life gets hard

And storms pass by

Oh, but there will come another day

When I will fly, fly away

As I wait on Him, He renews my strength

I will run and not grow weary

I will walk and not faint

Cause I know He's making something out of me

I know He's making something out of me...
